The seventh meeting of Governing Council of Indian Yoga Association was held online on January 8, 2023 from 4-5pm. The meeting saw the presence of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Chairman and other members including Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, Dr OP Tiwari, Swami Chidanand Saraswati, Dr HR Nagendra and Shri Subodh Tiwari, Secretary General

The meeting started with shanti path. Shri Subodh Tiwari welcomed all the gurus and thanked them all for their kind presence. The discussion commenced with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar appreciating the work done by the Secretariat. He also applauded the commendable work done by the Secretary General by reactivating 26 State Chapter Committees.
He further stressed that we have a long way to go. From 2.5 million people practicing yoga, we have to reach at least reach 7 million yoga practitioners. He also mentioned that with the help and cooperation of all of the luminaries of the IYA GC members we can work together and get justice to the world of Yoga.
Dr HR Nagendra also asserted that all GC members have played an important role in spreading Yoga and bringing IYA to where it is today. Coming together and bringing synergy was the prime motive of the IYA as organisation since inception, he expressed.
Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev also mentioned that Yoga has been promoted worldwide. The international missions are also promoting the same. Swami Chidanand Saraswati was of the same opinion.
Thereafter, the Secretary General shared the agenda and discussions were held about the mobilising the membership drive, steps to be taken to motivate state chapters to work more towards promoting Yoga, enhancing the presence of IYA globally, roadmap for IYA and others.
