Agrima sets on a bicycle expedition from Kochi to Ladakh
Smt Agrima Nair, Member of Indian Yoga Association and a resident of Powdikonam in Thiruvananthapuram, embarked on a solo bicycle expedition from Kochi to Ladakh on the International Day of Yoga (June 21, 2022) to spread awareness about yoga and sensitise people about the importance of the ancient wisdom.
Five years ago, the 30-year-old completed her doctorate in molecular neuroscience from the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology. However, that was the time when she found her calling in yoga. She then got a master’s degree in Yoga Therapy from Manipal University.
She will cover Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, New Delhi and other states too. Agrima calls her bicycle ‘Chakrika’, which means Goddess Durga with the divine discus or wheel.
CYS organizes Yoga Awareness Program
Center for Yogic Sciences (CYS), an Associate Member of India Yoga Association (IYA) in collaboration with Department of Physiology, Aarupadai Veedu Medical College & Hospital (AVMC & H) organized yoga awareness program under the title “Hepatitis – Can’t wait” on World Hepatitis day for out-patients at ‘C – Block’, AVMC & H, Puducherry dated on 4th August, 2022.
New nominations and re-nominations @Puducherry SCC
The Puducherry State Chapter of IYA met online on August 30, 2022 to seek fresh nominations or re-nominate some or all the previous office bearers of the State Chapter. As many as 15 members participated in the meeting headed by Dr. Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani. The meeting was also joined by Shri Ravi Tumuluri, Shri Sampadhananda Mishra and Dr Uttareshwar Pachegaonkar.
Considering Amma ji’s health condition, it was unanimously decided that Dr Madanmohan Trakroo will lead and guide the Puducherry SCC as the Chairman. Dr Uttareshwar Pachegaonkar was given the responsibility of the Senior Vice Chairman, Dr Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani and Shri Sampananda Mishra would be the Vice Chairman, Dr S Selvanathan will be the Secretary, Dr Meena Ramanathan will be the Joint Secretary, Dr Shanmugam will be the Treasurer, and Academics and Accreditation Committee, Research Committee, Public Relation Committee and Youth Affairs Committee will be headed by Dr Dayanidy, Dr Balaji, Ms. Vibha and Dhivya Priya Bhavanani respectively.
The meeting also emphasised on fund raising activities through IYA Membership, Volunteer Members, Professional Members Nominations, Conducting Short Programs through IYA and Sponsorships Initiatives. The idea of a dedicated You Tube Channel and Instagram Page for IYA Puducherry Social Media Outreach was put forward.
Kaivalyadhama sings MoU with AIIA
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) and Kaivalyadhama on August 26, 2022.
It envisages collaboration on Education, Research and Faculty exchange. As an immediate first step a student of Diploma in Yoga Therapy was deputed to AIIA for six months. Dr. Tanuja Nesari, Director AIIA, Dr. More, Dean and Dr. Kulkarni, Head of Department, Swashtavritta was present when the MoU was signed along with Shri. Subodh Tiwari, Secretary, Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute and Secretary General, IYA.
Jharkhand SCC meeting held
Jharkhand State Chapter Committee of IYA successfully completed its 2 years. On the occasion elections were held for the next 3 years at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Ranchi. The meeting for the same was held in August in hybrid mode. Shri Ravi Tumuruli was present as the special guest.
The election for the state chapter committee was held under the guidance of Swami Bhaveshanand Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram Moradabadi, Ranchi, Shri Jatashankar Jha, Chief Trustee, Gayatri Shaktipeeth, Ranchi and Dr Abhijeet Ghosh, Secretary, WBSCC, IYA. Shri BK Sinha, State President, Art of Living, Shri SS Prasad, Organiser, Vivekananda, Kanyakumari, Ranchi were present as the chief guest. Shri Amit Kumar, Secretary, Jharkhand SCC was also present on the occasion.
SBV inaugurates Institute of Salutogenesis and Complementary Medicine
The Institute of Salutogenesis and Complementary Medicine (ISCM) at Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (SBV), Deemed to be University, Pondicherry was inaugurated by Dr.Bhushan Patwardhan, Chairman, Executive Committee, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and Former Vice Chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC) on inaugurated on August 22, 2022
Prof. Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani, Director, ISCM remarked that the upgradation of Yoga and Music Therapy centres into ISCM would go a long way in promoting Salutogenesis besides addressing several disorders of lifestyle, metabolism, endocrine and nervous systems. Prof. A.R. Srinivasan, Registrar, SBV rendered a musical felicitation on the occasion.
Prof. Madanmohan Trakroo and Prof. Sumathy Sundar were feted for their significant contributions towards Salutogenesis at SBV.
