Vedanta Bharati recently organized Shankarayasholahari under the direct patronage of Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Sharada Peetham Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamiji and Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji. The two-day event was held in Whitefield, Bangalore from March 9-10, 2020.
It was attended by many yoga and spiritual organisations. Seven Member Institutions of Indian Yoga Association participated in this event. Swami Atmapriyanandaji, Director, Standing Academics and Accreditation Committee were present as the keynote speaker for the session ‘Shankaradvaitam for Youth’. Also of note is the point made by Swami Atmapriyanandaji in his keynote speech where he brought out the Yoga- Vedanta aspect and how youth can be attracted to advaita. He was also representing Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math.
From the Executive Council of IYA, Shri Ravi Tumuluri, Joint Secretary was present for all the sessions. It was discussed that the Shankar Jayanti celebrations would include Parayanam of various Shankara Stortras, bhashya on different advtaitam topics and themes, and ekatma yatra. Shri Shankar Bharati Swamiji asked Shri Ravi Tumuluri ji to elaborate various ideas to involve IYA Member Institutions in Shankar Jayanti celebrations. Ravi Tumuluri assured support of IYA for the Shankara Jayanti celebrations provided a proposal is made by Swami Shankara Bharati ji.
Prof Kambhampati Subrahmanyam, Chairman, AP SCC, IYA, Nominee, VYASA, was present on the inaugural day of the event. In his usual way, he very crisply and concisely suggested a few points that could be taken up by Vedanta Bharati for the Shankara Jayanti celebrations.
Nominees of other Member Institutions of IYA included Smt Rajeshwari Prabhakaran, Patanjali Yog Peeth, Sri Vivek Sharma, Kaivalyadham, Sri Mitesh Thakkar, Dev Sanskriti Vishw Vidyalaya, Shri Rishi Ranjan and Dr Madhu Sudhan, Sri Rama Chandra Mission and Srinivas Pulleri from Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanvantari Ashram.
