In June-July 2024, the Himalayan School of Traditional Yoga (HSTY) marked the 10th International Yoga Day with a global series of yoga sessions. As an Associate Centre of the Indian Yoga Association, HSTY followed the Common Yoga Protocol from the Ayush Ministry, offering free yoga sessions to diverse groups worldwide, from kindergartens to senior citizens. The theme, “Yoga for Self and Society,” highlighted yoga’s role in personal and societal well-being.
HSTY’s sessions took place in various settings including schools, military academies, parks, and hotels, and were conducted in multiple formats: in-person, online, and hybrid. The programs were tailored for different age groups, focusing on age-appropriate practices and objectives, from engaging children with games to offering gentle movements for seniors.
The celebration reached across five continents and 13 countries, including new locations such as Slovakia, Austria, and Georgia. Notably, a session in South Africa involved 5,000 participants, and another in Bangalore featured over 600 NCC cadets. In total, 26 HSTY instructors conducted 53 sessions, engaging approximately 6,600 people and emphasizing yoga’s universal appeal and benefits.
