Yog Kumbh: A Unique Confluence of Yoga Traditions 

In one-of-its-kind of initiative, Indian Yoga Association organised a Yog Kumbh at Kumbh Mela, Prayagraj 2019 from January 31 – February 7, 2019 with the support of Ministry of Tourism. It was truly a confluence, a Kumbh Mela as all participants from different traditions actually participated in all sessions, respecting each other’s tradition and performing the techniques and practices of other traditions. As many as 32 Yoga Schools and Traditions of Indian Yoga Association participated. The highlights of the Yoga Kumbh encapsulated Yoga Sessions and Satsangs with Gurus, Yoga Expo, Exhibition for different classical and contemporary yoga traditions, research on yoga by S-VYASA, bhakti yoga immersion workshops by different schools of yoga showcasing their tradition, multimedia light and sound laser show and yoga therapy consultations.

Kaivalyadham, Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram, Sahaj Marg, Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (S-VYASA), Sri Sri School of Yoga, The Art of Living, Sri Aurobindo Society, Patanjali Yogpeeth, Parmarth Niketan, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), The Yoga Institute, Yoga Vidya Gurukul and other schools of yoga tradition participated in the first of-its-kind of endeavour.

Kumbh Mela brought Yogrishi Swami Ramdevji Maharaj, Pujya Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar ji, Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji together on the same platform. The participation at the Morning Yoga Sessions was more than 1000 on normal days and on the 4th February, the day of Mauni Amavasya, the crowd gathered at the yoga open-air stage was about 50000 people.
