A meeting of the Advisory Board and the Office bearers of Indian Yoga Association (IYA) was held under the Chairpersonship of Pujya Yogrishi Swami Ramdev ji Maharaj on February 7, 2017 at Shanti Kunj, Haridwar. O.P.Tiwari ji, Shri Dr. H.R.Nagendra ji, Shri Swami Bharat Bhushan ji, Shri Kannan (representative of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev ji), Shri Dr.Ishwar Bhardwaj, Ganga Nandini ji (representative of Swami Chidananda Saraswati ji) and Shri Dr. Ishwar V. Basavaraddi ji. Pujya Yogrishi Swami Ramdev ji Maharaj was unanimously nominated as the Chairperson of the proposed Governing Council of IYA. The meeting witnessed discussions about the steps taken by IYA and the Govt. of India for the promotion of Yoga Education, training, therapy etc.
Strengthening of PrCB of IYA was also mentioned. The initiative of Ministry of AYUSH for organizing State Level Yoga Festivals/Utsavs every month was applauded. Among other important things, it was decided that IYA shall move in a well-defined constitution with target oriented goals and delivery guidelines which will help to promote and develop Yoga in its totality.
