Chandigarh UT Committee celebrates yoga, unity, and wellness through a series of meaningful events

The Indian Yoga Association Chandigarh UT Chapter successfully conducted three impactful events in March 2025, reflecting its commitment to holistic well-being, social inclusion, and yogic awareness.

Yogoli – A festive celebration of unity and wellness with safai karamcharis

On 10th March 2025, the Chandigarh State Chapter celebrated “Yogoli”, a unique fusion of Holi and Yoga, at the Community Centre, Sector 47, Chandigarh. The event was dedicated to honouring 38 Safai Karamcharis, who were warmly welcomed with Gulal Tilak in a spirit of gratitude and respect.

Participants were introduced to simple and effective yogic practices such as Sukshma Vyayam, deep breathing techniques, Clap Yoga, and Hasya Yoga, aimed at improving physical and mental well-being.

The celebration was graced by Shri Jasbir Singh Ladi, Area Councillor of Sector 47, who appreciated the initiative and expressed his continued support for similar inclusive events. Shri Jasbir Singh Bunty, Senior Deputy Mayor, also extended his admiration for the noble effort and conveyed his intention to celebrate Holi in future with the IYA Chandigarh Chapter, to further uplift and bring joy to the Safai Karamcharis.
The celebration culminated with a lively group dance to the traditional Holi song “Aaj Biraj Mein Holi Re Rasiya”. The event witnessed participation from 34 Sadhaks of the IYA team and concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Shri Mahendra Nath Pandey.

Kendriya Vidyalaya embraces yogic wisdom

Inspired by the content of Yogavani, the official monthly publication of IYA, Smt. Sunita Rani, Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sector 47, invited the Chandigarh State Chapter of IYA to address a special morning assembly.

During the session, Smt. Neelam Hooda, an experienced yoga teacher, accompanied by faculty members Smt. Meena Goyal and Smt. Suman Bala, spoke about the importance of integrating Yoga and Pranayama into everyday life. Their message deeply resonated with students and staff alike.

The Vice Principal appreciated IYA’s efforts in nurturing a yogic lifestyle among the youth and invited the State Chapter to conduct an open yoga session on school premises. Additionally, in anticipation of International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025, the Principal has requested IYA’s support in organizing a training session and demonstration to engage and educate students.

This collaboration signifies a meaningful step toward creating a health-conscious, yoga-inspired student community.

Three-Day yoga camp cultivates community and inner awareness

From 20th to 22nd March 2025, the Chandigarh UT Chapter conducted a three-day yoga camp at the Public Park near Sector 42 Police Colony. Held from 4:30 PM to 6:00 pm daily, the camp was led by Sister Sandhya Jain ji.

The camp was inaugurated by Shri Mahendra Nath Pandey ji, Treasurer of the Chapter, who spoke about the fundamental principles of Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation, and the seven chakras, helping attendees understand how yoga can transform daily life.

Over the three days, yoga sessions were expertly led by Sister Sandhya ji, with postural guidance by Sister Seema ji and Pranayama sessions by Sister Sunita ji. Participation grew steadily from 17 on the first day to 21 on subsequent days, reflecting rising community interest.

Interactive Q&A sessions allowed attendees to deepen their understanding, and on the final day, participants expressed sincere gratitude to the organizing team, vowing to continue practicing yoga and spreading its benefits. The camp concluded with a peaceful prayer, “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah”, led by Shri Mahendra Nath Pandey ji.
