The Indian Yoga Association (IYA), West Bengal Chapter, held its Annual State Meet and Vijaya Sammelan on November 17, 2024, at the serene Heartfulness Meditation Centre in Kolkata. This landmark event brought together approximately 75 esteemed members of the association, marking a significant occasion to reflect on the progress of yoga in the state and celebrate the shared vision of promoting yogic traditions.

The day began with a warm welcome address by the Secretary, Dr. Abhijit Ghosh, who set the tone for the event with an invocation, creating a spiritually enriching atmosphere. Attendees engaged in meaningful discussions about strategies to advance yoga practices statewide. These discussions emphasized the importance of expanding outreach in schools and communities, showcasing yoga’s therapeutic benefits, and collaborating with cultural and wellness organizations to preserve and advance the Indian knowledge systems.

An important focus of the meet was on promoting research into yoga’s therapeutic applications and documenting the unique contributions of the region to the broader field of yoga. This emphasis on research and preservation aims to strengthen both the academic and practical aspects of yoga in West Bengal.

The event also featured inspiring yoga demonstrations and vibrant cultural performances, highlighting the unity and creativity that yoga fosters. These sessions provided an opportunity for participants to experience the beauty and depth of yogic traditions in action.
