Yoga for Universal Well Being

Smt Meetal Koticha Shah
Joint Executive Trustee, Project ‘Life’ &
Senior Vice-Chairperson, IYA, Gujarat Chapter

Ancient Indian lifestyle augmented with holistic practices ensured healthy wellbeing of people, reducing stress, agitation, nervousness.

With onset of contemporary, demanding & competitive ways of life and modern science, technology and superficial comforts, the work-life balance has been shattered or, at best, deranged.

People from the healthy era worked hard and yet managed to maintain a healthy mind, body and soul equilibrium. They achieved this with brilliantly organized and regularized way of living, with care, concern and consciousness for healthy & spiritual life-ingredients.

Early to bed and Early to rise, makes you healthy and wise was the testament in life and there was enough time spared for family, society, introspection, and spiritual rejuvenation.
Spiritual practices were a significant part of life, be it yoga, meditation, pranayama or religious devotion. There was always time for rhythm & harmony with self and with nature. Something that seems lost in today’s world of technology, gadgetry, confusion and the so called social platforms. We now become friends with Facebook friends whose face we may never get to see, but will not recognize the next door neighbor in the town! And we so easily forget to be friends with ourselves!!

What we have in our culture continues to diminish and the generation next remains in a state of denial and deprivation, sometimes depression.

This catastrophic state can be helped significantly, if not averted, by the practice of Indian holistic sciences – a truth quickly being realized and accepted the world over.
Yoga, meditation and pranayama in daily routine can elevate human state of physical & mental healing and contribute to Universal wellbeing in ways not many modern sciences ever can. The positive energies generated through yogic existence travel far and beyond towards creating a better world of peace, harmony and health, permitting appropriate alignment of self with the universe.

Charity begins at home and the responsibility to be healthy lies within.

In a world in chaos, where there is no time for anything, where self gets the least priority, where health depends on medical science in hands of others, lets us all rise and wake up, let us introspect and go retrospect.

Let’s take care of ourselves with simplicity & serenity and let’s teach our generation & the next, the secret of universal wellbeing – the incredible, invincible science of Yoga.
