Message from President, Guruji Dr HR Nagendra

The Indian Yoga Association was established by the leading Yoga Masters and Gurus drawn from various traditions with strong indepth knowledge of traditional yoga and Indian philosophy. The main objective of the association is to spread the knowledge of traditional yoga across globe for the welfare of the society for peaceful co-existence. Initially, Yoga which was confined to the Indian subcontinent gradually moved across globe as the science associated with yoga is being revealed by the researchers.

With the United Nations Organisation declaring June 21st as International Day of Yoga, the demand for yoga education and research is exponentially on the rise and thus yoga can be seen in all walks of life. This is also a reason many pseudo institutes, associations and gurus have sprung like mushrooms creating confusion in the minds of the public apart from causing damage to the traditional Yoga.

With a view to prevent further damage to the traditional yoga, Indian Yoga Association has initiated various major initiatives to curtail the damage and also to standardize yoga education and practice across globe. Indian Yoga Association has initiated process of setting up global accreditation body in association with National Assessment and Accreditation Council, for imparting uniform standard yoga education and practice.

As the president of the Indian Yoga Association, I take this opportunity to convey to the entire yoga fraternity that, the Association with eminent yoga personalities will stand to promote yoga education and research without diluting the traditional knowledge of the yoga, for the welfare of the society.

I congratulate the team of our Standing PPP Committee of Dr Ananda Balayogi Bhavnani for embarking on this much-awaited Yogvani, a mouthpiece of IYA. All the important happenings in the yoga world will be made available through this to all IYA Members. I urge everybody to spread the message of IYA through this newsletter.

With Love,
Dr H R Nagendra
( President )
