As part of the preparations for the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, Oordhvam Yoga, an Associate Centre of the Indian Yoga Association (IYA), under the leadership of Dr. Kaushik R., Founder, and Dr. Subha M., Co-Founder, in collaboration with the IYA–Tamil Nadu State Chapter Committee (IYA-TNSCC), successfully conducted a five-part online webinar series during May 2026.
The webinar series was designed to deepen public understanding of Yoga’s diverse dimensions and its significance in contemporary life. Bringing together eminent speakers from various streams of Yoga, the programme attracted enthusiastic participation from more than 400 yoga practitioners, teachers, students, and wellness enthusiasts from across the country.
The series commenced on 3 May 2026 with a session on “Latest Scientific Models of Yoga for the Improvement of Health” by Prof. Dr. R. Elangovan, who highlighted contemporary scientific approaches to Yoga and presented evidence-based applications for enhancing health and well-being.
He emphasized the importance of integrating traditional yogic wisdom with modern scientific advancements.
On 10 May 2026, Smt. R. Thangalakshmi Balasubramanian, State Secretary of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, delivered an insightful talk on “Avarti Dhyana (Cyclic Meditation) for Positive Health and Beyond.” The session explored the concept of positive health from both traditional and scientific perspectives while explaining the unique methodology and benefits of Cyclic Meditation in promoting higher levels of well-being.
The third webinar, held on 17 May 2026, featured Swami Taponidhi Saraswati of the Bihar School of Yoga, who spoke on “Yoga Darshan – Vision of the Rishis.” He offered profound insights into the yogic path envisioned by the ancient seers and explained how Yoga Darshan serves as a framework for self-development, inner growth, and transformation.
On 24 May 2026, Dr. E. Santhi, Assistant Professor (Yoga), Vethathiri Maharishi College of Yoga, Chennai, addressed participants on “Yoga – The Purpose of Life.” Her presentation encouraged participants to reflect on the deeper meaning of life through Yoga, emphasizing awareness in thought, word, and deed, along with the cultivation of gratitude as a foundation for harmonious living.
The webinar series concluded on 31 May 2026 with Dr. S. Selvalakshmi, Associate Professor-cum-Sports Secretary, Department of Yoga, Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, presenting on “Yoga Beyond Asanas.” The session highlighted Yoga as a holistic way of life that extends far beyond physical postures, encompassing physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.
The series successfully showcased the richness and diversity of Yoga—from scientific research and meditation practices to classical philosophy and holistic living. Through these meaningful interactions, Oordhvam Yoga and IYA-TNSCC inspired and educated a wide audience, strengthening awareness about Yoga and its transformative potential in the lead-up to International Day of Yoga 2026.
