The Jammu & Kashmir State Chapter Committee (SCC) of the Indian Yoga Association (IYA) formally launched its 40-day countdown to the International Day of Yoga (IDY) at Himmat Learning Field Higher Secondary School, Channi Himmat, Jammu. The programme was organized under the chairmanship of Dr. Shreyansh Kumar Jain, Chairman, IYA Jammu & Kashmir SCC and State Yoga Commissioner.
The event was graced by Shri K. S. Samyal, H. C. Vaid, and Shri Ashok Khajuria as Guests of Honour. The proceedings were conducted by Shri Ashok Gupta, General Secretary, IYA Jammu & Kashmir SCC, who also led a session of Hasya Yoga, creating an atmosphere of joy and positivity.
Welcoming the guests and participants, Smt.Sudha Chander Sharma, Senior Vice President, emphasized that yoga should become a way of life rather than being observed only on a single day, highlighting its role in promoting holistic health and inner well-being.
A special attraction of the programme was the yoga demonstration by Shri Raghu, a student of HLF School. Dr. Jain guided the participants through Yogasanas, Pranayama, and Meditation based on the Common Yoga Protocol prescribed by the Ministry of AYUSH. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the significance of the annual countdown programmes organized by the IYA Jammu & Kashmir SCC in the lead-up to the globally celebrated International Day of Yoga on 21 June.
The programme was meticulously organized by the Himmat Learning Field School team under the guidance of Shri Chander Mohan Sharma, Smt Indu Sharma, and Smt Pritee Sharma. Adding a cultural and spiritual dimension to the event, Shri K. S. Samyal presented a devotional bhajan, while Dr. Jain recited a special Yoga Geet composed for the occasion.
Shri Chander Mohan Sharma, Chairman of HLF School, expressed his gratitude to the Indian Yoga Association for selecting the institution to host the inaugural programme of the IDY celebrations. Among the distinguished participants present were Shri Rakesh Misra, Shri Nitin Jain, and Shri Ramakant Sharma.
During the programme, Shri Abhinandan Jain addressed the students and shared valuable insights on the importance of moral, ethical, and cultural values in shaping responsible citizens and a strong society.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Smt Indu Sharma, Principal of the institution. The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, marking the successful commencement of the 40-day countdown to the International Day of Yoga.
