The 5th meeting of the Governing Council of Indian Yoga Association was organised online on November 30, 2021 at 10:30am. Meeting saw the auspicious presence of Governing Council Members of IYA including Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Chairman, Shri OP Tiwari, Swami Chidananda Saraswati, Smt Hansa Jayadev Yogendra, Dr Ishwar V Basavaraddi, and Guruji Dr HR Nagendra, President, IYA and Smt Kamlesh Barwal, General Secretary, IYA.
Guruji Dr HR Nagendra welcomed all the members. In his opening remarks, Chairman Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said that together we all have to take IYA forward by having yoga trainers in every nook and corner of the country to be able to realise our dream of swasthya and yogmay Bharat. He also emphasized that the Governing Council should meet once every 3—4 months and make efforts to reach out to Gurus and Yogis doing good work everywhere and include them in IYA.
Further, the yoga gurus were informed about the International Conference to be organised in 2022 to be organised bringing all yoga institutions and traditions together. The discussion was also held about IYA memberships and the way it can be improved. The meeting concluded with a prayer.
