Chandigarh UT Chapter leads the way in celebrating IDY 2025 with spirit of unity and wellness

The Chandigarh UT Chapter of the Indian Yoga Association has actively joined the national celebration of the 11th International Yoga Day (IYD), embracing the global theme “One Earth, One Health” to highlight the vital link between personal well-being and planetary harmony. The chapter began its series of events on 20th May 2025, aligning itself with the nationwide movement of over one lakh yoga events that follow the Common Yoga Protocol. Under the banner of “Yoga Sangam,” five major events were strategically organized across all corners of Chandigarh, symbolizing unity in diversity through the shared language of yoga.

A total of 278+ events have been planned across the city, targeting all age groups, with 10 regular daily yoga classes being conducted at iconic venues throughout the tricity. These sessions are being led by experienced instructors and yoga leaders, including Behan Krishna Goyal (East), Shri Ajit Kumar Handa (Central), Dr. Pardeep Agnihotri (South), Mahendra Nath Pandey (North), Smt Rita Devi (West), and Yoga Guru Sandeep. A notable highlight was an eight-kilometer Yogathon, which drew participants from diverse walks of life and generated widespread awareness about the benefits of a yogic lifestyle.

On 25th May, a soulful Yog Sadhna was held at dawn at Shree Sanatan Dharma Mandir, Sector 42, Chandigarh. Led by Shri Mahendra Nath Pandey, the gathering brought together numerous seekers in a meditative exploration of inner stillness. The serene morning session transformed each asana into a prayer and each breath into a guiding force, fostering an atmosphere of peace, reflection, and spiritual connection.

Recognition for the chapter’s dedicated efforts came through multiple honors. On 27th May, Smt Krishna Goyal received a Certificate of Appreciation at the Grand Yoga Festival organized by the Haryana Yoga Commission. On 1st June, she was further felicitated by the Hon’ble SDM for her continuous contributions in spreading yoga awareness throughout the region.

Several key events continued to unfold in the lead-up to IYD. On 7th June, Smt Rita Devi initiated a program titled “Yoga and Nature,” nurturing the talents of future generations, while Shri Mahendra Nath Pandey led “Yoga Samavesha,” an immersive meditative session. On 8th June, he also conducted a cooling “Beat the Heat” yoga practice that left participants revitalized.

The chapter’s commitment to children’s wellness was evident through the consistent efforts of Yoga Guru Sandeep Sharma, who conducts regular sessions at Ashiana Children’s Home in Panchkula, nurturing physical and mental well-being in young lives. At the Shivanand Center of Excellence in Kakar Majra, yoga is imparted to children of brick kiln workers, empowering them with strength, resilience, and clarity.

With daily initiatives such as Harit Yoga (eco-conscious yoga), Yoga Unplugged (digital detox sessions), Yoga Sangam (community gatherings), and Yoga Samavesha (deep yogic immersion), Chandigarh UT Chapter continues to pave the way toward a mindful, healthy society. As the countdown to 21st June gathers momentum, Chandigarh stands strong—breathing as one, moving as one, and living as one in the true spirit of “One Earth, One Health.”
