Yoga Vidya Niketan (YVN), Member Institute of IYA, successfully conducted a 100-Hour Fasting Workshop from March 8 to 11, 2025, under the guidance of Shri Durgadas Savant, aiming to spread awareness about the scientific and traditional benefits of fasting.

The workshop highlighted the concept of homeostasis—the body’s natural ability to maintain internal balance—and emphasized that living in alignment with nature helps prevent disease. Fasting, often misunderstood, was presented as a key practice that activates autophagy, the Nobel Prize-winning cellular process that detoxifies and heals the body.
Participants could choose fasting durations of 24, 48, 72, or 100 hours, with health parameters monitored by YVN’s research team. A total of 50 participants joined, including Shri Gautam Chokshi (72), who completed the full 100-hour fast, inspiring everyone with his dedication.
The workshop distinguished voluntary fasting from starvation and showed how fasting can conserve energy, support healing, and enhance overall vitality. Based on Ayurveda’s Dincharya, the event reinforced the natural rhythm of elimination, digestion, and repair.
The overwhelmingly positive response and visible health benefits have motivated YVN to make this workshop an annual feature, blending scientific insight with ancient wisdom for a healthier society.
