Formation and strategic planning of Telangana SCC highlighted in May 2025 meetings

The inaugural meeting of the Telangana State Chapter Committee (TSCC) of the Indian Yoga Association (IYA) was held on May 10, 2025, in Hyderabad. This significant event marked the formal launch of the committee and was the result of meticulous planning and coordination by the committee members, who worked in advance to ensure the participation of all IYA stakeholders in Telangana.

Representatives from member institutions, associate centers, life members, yoga professional members, and yoga volunteer members took part in the proceedings. The inauguration was conducted by Shri Subodh Tiwari ji, Secretary General, IYA, and commenced with a traditional Vedic ritual performed by the most revered Vedic priests of Hyderabad, under the leadership of Dr. Vrushakapi, Chairperson of the state chapter.

In his keynote address, Shri Subodh Tiwari ji shared insights into the formation and evolution of IYA into a globally recognized platform and spoke about the future scope of collaboration between IYA and the Telangana chapter, especially in organizing national and international yoga events. Dr. Vrushakapi enlightened the gathering on the spiritual significance of the Telangana region, explaining the Science of Sanatana Dharma—emphasizing the pramana of body, mind, and spirit—using relatable analogies from daily life. As a token of gratitude, a specially designed memento symbolizing IYA-TSCC and featuring the iconic Charminar, representing unity and interfaith harmony in Telangana, was presented to Shri Subodh Tiwari ji by the Chairperson. The event concluded with high tea and a networking opportunity for all attendees.

Subsequently, an online group meeting of the state chapter was held on May 15, 2025, at 9:30pm, with participation from key committee members including Shri Amarendra (Secretary), Dr. Ramya (Treasurer), Shri P. Nageswara Rao (Vice Chairperson), Shri Ch.V. Srinivasa Rao and Shri Arroju Srinivasa Rao (Joint Secretaries), and Smt Gauri Kaustubhan (Member).

The meeting focused on follow-up actions and operational strategies. It was decided that the TSCC banner must be prominently displayed at all member-conducted programs to ensure visibility and identity.

A membership drive was initiated, with each member encouraged to bring at least five new members while emphasizing the benefits of joining IYA. The committee also resolved to open a dedicated bank account for TSCC operations. A major point of discussion was the organization of a large public event to celebrate the International Day of Yoga 2025, tentatively scheduled for June 15th, 21st, or 22nd, with a target participation of at least 1000 people. The responsibility for preparing the action plan was assigned to Shri P. Nageswara Rao and Shri Ch.V. Srinivasa Rao.
