Philosophy should manifest in real life through practice

Philosophy should manifest in real life through practice, and therefore, for each ‘sadhak’, practice is of prime importance. Today is the time of information and knowledge overload. So much is available online and so much is happening offline. There is a big possibility that, we misinterpret this information and knowledge, for wisdom. This is occurring at a very large level. In the world of Yoga and spiritual sciences, we have to be very careful to ensure that our practices are sincere and persistence, its only then, that we would be able to experience the knowledge, which generates the possibility to move towards ‘prajna’.

It is therefore very essential that the traditional / scriptural understanding of Yoga goes hand in hand with the deciphering the experiences of practices. Identifying the physical dimension of Asanas as Yoga, is the most prevalent misunderstanding which people have, and it is important that each one of us works towards promotion of the deeper understanding of Yoga.

It was with this as one of the prime objectives that Indian Yoga Association was formed. This paved way for institutions with similar foundations to come together and be able to promote the essence of Yoga in depth. Over the years, the growth has been steady and we have been able to reach 26 states. More members are joining in and many institutes have become associates. Each person who becomes a member of IYA, actually supports and promotes the real essence of Yoga. Though, one of the primary questions, we as human beings ask before we do anything is , What is in it for us ? We should realize, that , many a times , supporting a cause , itself is the motive and not the return which one is receiving.

Let us motivate ourselves and let us motivate others to join this movement of IYA and become a united voice of Yoga. Simple steps such as using the logo , tagging IYA , hashtag IYA in posts will help reach out to wider audience. At the same time, members are encouraged to be more participative. Please express your opinion , views and suggestions as to the important points which you feel need attention , and we will take this up. We require a vibrancy which will culminate in to a wave of positive energy to take IYA to the next level.

by Shri Subodh Tiwari
Secretary General, IYA
