The Governing Council was a Triple Header

Yogrishi Swami Ramdev ji Maharaj, Chairman, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, Member and head of the host organisation and Guruji Dr HR Nagendra, President, headed the table. Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar joined the august gathering through video conference.

Flanked on either side were Members of the GC including Swami Chidanand Saraswati ji Maharaj, Sri OP Tiwari ji and Dr Ishwara Basavaraddi ji. Secretary General, Smt Kamlesh Barwal as the Member Convenor, conducted the meeting. The only Special Invitee on the table was Maa Hansaji Jayadeva Yogendra, the Senior Vice President. Daaji, Sri Kamlesh Patel ji, also made a very special appearance through video conference.

Some members of the Executive Council, including the Vice President, Sri Subodh Tiwari ji, Joint Secretaries, Dr Jaideep Arya ji and Sri Ravi Tumuluri ji, and the Treasuer, Sri PC Kapoor ji were also present on the sidelines to facilitate the meeting.

The strength of Yogrishi Swami Ramdev ji Maharaj, the scientific approach of Guruji Dr HR Nagendra, the loving inputs of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar ji, the mystic presence of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev ji, the creative inputs of Swami Chidanand Saraswati ji Maharaj, the classical approach of Sri OP Tiwari ji and the staidness of Dr IV Basavaraddi ji contributed equally to the further evolution of yoga practice! A motherly touch by Maa Hansaji and a heartful contribution of Daaji Kamlesh Patel also helped in the evolution!

On the sidelines of this important meeting of the Governing Council, great ideas and pleasantries were exchanged amongst the yogrishis, each a sustainer of a yogic parampara and also a creator for a new yogic thought, who seldom cross each others’ pathways except for such IYA Events and Meetings! Isha Foundation in the midst of the serene Velliangiri range, offered a blissful atmosphere to one and all, to facilitate constructive dialogue for another emergence of yogic wisdom! It seemed as though Isha campus was filled with so many loving and eager volunteers, that they more than twice outnumbered the special guests who had gathered for the occasion. It is also very relevant to mention that due to this phenomenal effort of IYA, of bringing together all the yogis in the Association, the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, convened two important meetings – a meeting of the Steering Committee of the Yoga Certification Board and a meeting of the proposed World Yogasana Sports Federation at the same venue as the GCM, IYA
