IYA holds 35th Executing Council Meeting 

The 35th meeting of the Executive Council of Indian Yoga Association was held online on May 29, 2023, between 5.30 pm and 6.30 pm.


The meeting was attended by Maa Dr Hansaji Yogendra, President, Swami Atmapriyananda, Senior Vice President, Shri S Sridharan, Vice President, Shri Subodh Tiwari, Secretary General, Brahmacharini Shobha, Joint Secretary, Dr Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani, Joint Secretary, Smt Padmini Rathore, Working Director, Standing Publications, Publicity and PR Committee, Shri KC Jain, Treasurer, Shri PC Kapoor, Director, Standing Finance Committee, Dr Manjunath Sharma, Director, Standing Research Committee, PrCB, Shri Dheeraj Saraswat, Special Invitee and Ms Ganga Nandini, Special Invite.

The meeting started with the prayer and Shri Subodh Tiwari welcoming all, after which he handed over the floor to the President to open the meeting. In her opening remarks, she appreciated the regularity in conducting the meeting. She shared that ethics being first step in Yoga and at Indian Yoga Association (IYA), we should ensure that the Yoga professionals (popular and working worldwide) under IYA should follow right ethics.

Thereafter, Secretary General tabled the agenda which included confirmation of the minutes of the 34th meeting of the Executive Council of IYA held online on April 27, 2023. He shared that the work is in progress to enhance the IYA presence globally and for the international conference scheduled to be held in November 2023.

He further informed that the proposed names for the members of IEC according to ICMR were conveyed and received consent from the members. In addition we are going to register IEC under Central Drugs Standard Control Organization, Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. This is initiated by team from SVYASA which is preparing SOP for IEC formation process.

Event lists of the State Chapter Committees were shared with the EC members and the survey from Puducherry UT Chapter Committee on FAQ’s- the ‘International Survey on Perception of Yoga among IYA Members’ was presented to EC members. New members of IYA Gujarat State Chapter and Delhi Union Territory was approved.

During the meeting the list of six Eminent Yoga Acharyas (2023-24) was shared who will also be representing in the General Body of IYA as members. Updates were shared regarding the Standing Research Committee, State Chapters. Other important points were also discussed.

The meeting concluded with the Shanti mantra.
