A collaborative outreach program was organised and conducted by the School of Yoga Therapy, ISCM, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (SBV) in association with the Indian Yoga Association – Pondicherry chapter and Garudaa Mental Health Wellness Centre, Cuddalore- for the residents of the alcohol and cannabis de-addiction centre. The program was conducted on the 28th of May 2025.This awareness program aimed to spread awareness about the role of yoga in mental health and deaddiction.
As a part of the IDY 2025 under the signature event Yoga Samvesh initiative, we celebrated the inclusive and accessible yoga, which featured specialized yoga program designed for regaining mental wellness in people addicted to alcohol and cannabis. A tailored yoga practice session was conducted to the residents of Garuda to meet the unique needs of this particular group to enable them attain the transformative power of Yoga.
The team conducted a tailored yogasana and pranayama session for the residents, which was well received and marked by enthusiastic participation and cooperation. The session created a warm and engaging atmosphere, highlighting the positive impact of simple yogic practices on mental and emotional well-being. The visit served as a meaningful step toward integrative community outreach, fostering continued collaboration between academic institutions and mental health centres.
