‘Yog se Nirog’ by MP Govt and IYA helps hundreds

The second wave of Corona shook the entire country in April 2021. Nearly lakhs of people got infected with Corona every day. Hospitals were full, there were no beds, no oxygen, no medicine. In this situation when over 1 lakh people were treating themselves in home isolations, Madhya Pradesh government with Indian Yoga Association, Madhya Pradesh launched one-of-its-kind of initia­tive ‘Yoga to Nirog’.

It was observed that people practicing yoga either did not get corona or recovered quickly. Yoga and pranayama really help infected people overcome the virus. People infected under the initiative were given online classes to help fight the virus in isolation.
Yog se Nirog, an initiative to help people fighting with corona in home isolation was launched on April 24, 2021 by the Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan. The initiative saw participation from the Member Institutes of IYA namely Art of Living, Heartfulness, Patanjali Yogpeeth and others.

On May 21, 2021 to look and discuss at the progress of the Madhya Pradesh government’s and Madhya Pradesh State Chapter Committee’s initiative ‘Yog se Nirog’ an online event was organised. The event saw the presence of Pujya Swami Ramdevji Maharaj, Chairman, IYA and Sri Sri Ravishankar, Member, Governing Council, IYA. Address the people present Pujya Swami Ramdevji Maharaj said, “The immunity of people practicing yoga and pranayama increasing. Yoga and Pranayama very effectively helps people fight corona. Lakhs and lakhs of people have been able to cure themselves with corona.”

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar praised the initiative and said, “Yoga and pranayama helps people physically and men­tally.

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan spoke to yoga teachers and encouraged them. He also spoke to people who recovered from the viral infection as well.

The event was also attended by Dr Pushpanjali Sharma, Chairperson, MP SCC and Shri Vedprakash Shar­ma, Patron, MP SCC. In consultation with MP SCC, during the event a 20 minute yogasana program was broadcasted. The yoga teachers were as well arranged by the MP SCC for the same. Sharing her views Smt Pushpanjali Sharma said, “We have received a very good repsonse from Yog se Nirog. Hundreds of people were able to beat Corona with the help of this initiative. Under the initiative as many as 3500 yoga teachers selflessly treated people.”

During the event it was decided that the department would be shared a list of people in home isolation in each district. IYA and Department of School Education will share this list. Every yoga teacher will be given the responsibility of 10 patients who will teach them online.

Indian Yoga Association organized a program ‘Secrets of Breath for Prevention and Cure of COVID’ in col­laboration with Art of Living on Sunday, May 9, 2021. Dr. Mohit Sharma, Senior Cardiac Surgeon of Sawai Mansingh Hospital, Jaipur as the Chief Guest and Speaker.
Dr. Mohit Sharma in his address said that at present, due to corona epidemic, such an environment of fear and confusion has been created among the common people that every person looks mentally ill. Yoga is the only way to avoid this. Being a physician as well as a teacher of Art of Living, Dr. Mohit, in harmony with present-day era with Patanjali Yoga Sutras and Ashtavakra Gita, gave information about how we get caught in avidya, asmita, raga, aversion and abhinivesh and are making our lives full of unnecessary fear, worry and tension. By improving our lifestyle, he inspired the participants to lead a completely healthy and positive life in a natural way by adopting Yoga, Pranayama and world famous breathing technique ‘Sudarshan Kriya’ in daily routine.

More than 300 participants participated in this program and conducted online on Zoom. In the end, people’s doubts were also resolved through question and answer.

Earlier, Dr. Swatantra Sharma, Secretary, Rajasthan Chapter gave information about the Indian Yoga Asso­ciation and Shri Mahesh Sharma, Vice-Chairperson of the Indian Yoga Association presented the role of the program. In the end, Chapter Chairperson Shri Vinod Pareek proposed vote of thanks to all.

Workshop for Children by Chandigarh SCC

Chandigarh State Chapter Committee of Indian Yoga Association organised a two day yoga workshop on May 23-24, 2021 for school children of KV ITBP Bhanu and Senior Secondary School Gharuan to practise long deep breathing so that any infection pro­gressing towards children may not harm them.

A cultural program was held on the first day of workshop. On the second day, students were made to practice breathing techniques by Smt. Krishna Goyal, Vice Chairperson, Chandigarh UTCC. She taught children to exhale fully and stay for a few moments without breathing and then to inhale fully and stay. She explained them that the process will make extra carbon dioxide in left in lungs go out and will help the fresh oxygen penetrate, which will kill the virus and any infection.

The program concluded with vote of thanks by Shri Ajit Kumar Handa, Vice Chairperson, Chandigarh UTCC.

Chhattisgarh SCC organises Online Yoga Anatomy Training

Dr Mrithunjay Rathore of Chhattisgarh State Chapter Committee organised an Online Yoga Anatomy in three batches. A sound knowledge of anatomy of yoga posture is of profound help to Yoga students, yoga experts and researchers, who can attain the maximum possible benefit in their practice of yoga. Understand­ing the anatomy in yoga practice can be subdivided into two major areas. Firstly, it is the enhancement and improvisation of the performance of various postures in yoga.

Secondly, it assumes importance in the decline the incidence of injuries related to the practice of yoga. Around 300 students including international students are part of the training batches.
