Jharkhand SCC and Gramin Upkar Sansthan organizes 100-Day Countdown programme for IDY 2026 

As part of the nationwide celebrations leading up to the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, Jharkhand State Chapter Committee of IYA in collaboration with the Gramin Upkar Sansthan, Jharkhand, an Associate Centre of the Indian Yoga Association (IYA), successfully organized a grand Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) Programme and Yoga Awareness Workshop on 13 April 2026 at Jamshedpur Women’s University, Jamshedpur.

The programme, supported by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, formed part of the 100-day countdown series to International Day of Yoga and marked the 69th day of the nationwide campaign. Conducted under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ila Kumar, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, yoga practitioners, and wellness enthusiasts.
The programme commenced with a morning session of the Common Yoga Protocol, including Yogasanas, Pranayama, and Meditation, at the university’s Bistupur campus. Hundreds of participants joined the practice session, reaffirming their commitment to adopting Yoga as a way of life. The inaugural ceremony included the traditional lighting of the lamp and a yoga-based cultural presentation by students of the university.

Mr. Saryu Rai, MLA, West Singhbhum, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and highlighted the role of Yoga in fostering unity, health, and harmony. He encouraged participants to make Yoga an integral part of their daily routine and emphasized its growing global significance.

The second phase of the programme featured a Yoga Awareness-cum-Workshop at the Kharkai Auditorium, centred on the theme “Yoga for Wellness, Wisdom and World Peace.” Eminent speakers from the fields of Yoga, health, education, and wellness shared valuable insights on the transformative power of Yoga in addressing modern-day challenges and promoting holistic well-being.

The workshop included presentations on Yoga and mental health, stress management, Mudra Yoga, Ayurveda, healthy ageing, and the practical application of yogic principles in daily life. Speakers underscored the importance of integrating Yoga into educational institutions and community life to build healthier and more resilient societies.
The event witnessed the active participation of nearly 1,000 students, along with university officials, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and representatives of various yoga and wellness organizations. Key contributors included Mr. Amit Kumar, Secretary, IYA Jharkhand State Chapter Committee, and Mr. Kalidas Tiwari, Organizer, Gramin Upkar Sansthan, whose efforts played a significant role in the successful execution of the programme.

Through this impactful initiative, Gramin Upkar Sansthan and the IYA Jharkhand State Chapter Committee reinforced their commitment to spreading awareness about Yoga and advancing the vision of holistic health and well-being envisioned by the International Day of Yoga movement.
