State Chapter Committee Meetings – March 2021 

Chhattisgarh SCC to target college students
The Chhattisgarh State Chapter Committee met online on February 4, 2021 at 7:00 pm through Google Meet under the Chairmanship of Shri Sanjay Aggarwal. In the meeting it was decided that Shri Prabhat Mishr will execute the responsibility of Secretary as Smt. Leena Nanjiani expressed her inability to continue on the position.

Thereafter, discussions were held to train college students in Yoga and encourage them to give YCB through IYA. Speeding up of membership drive was also talked about. Members were of the view that soon a physical meeting should be held. It was further planned to organise webinars too to be able to promote IYA and increase membership.

HPSCC to work on increasing memberships
The Himachal Pradesh State Chapter Committee of IYA organized an online meet under the chairmanship of Shri Laxmi Dutt Sharma, Chairperson, HPSCC. A detailed discussion was held about memberships. All the office bearers were requested to speed up the membership campaign.

Discussions were held to organize activities to promote and propagate the vision the IYA. It was decided that the next meeting of the state chapter will be held in the first week of March.

J & K Chapter to promote Yoga and inspire the Youth
The Jammu and Kashmir State Chapter Committee meeting was held on January 7, 2021 from 12pm-2pm at Smriti Bhawan, Geeta Mandir, Bakshi Nagar, Jammu. Almost all members and office bearers attended the meeting. It was joyful to note that a lot of new yoga lovers and aspirants participated in the meeting and were pursued to become member of IYA.

During the meeting, a new action committee was formed to fight for the cause of employment of the trained qualified yoga candidates of Jammu and Kashmir. It was also unanimously decided to inspire educated un­employed youth to get trained in yoga and appear for certifications offered by IYA PrCb.

Shri Bansilal, Secretary of the State Chapter proposed to hold yoga talks with youth at their doorsteps like universities, college campus, etc. to familiarize them with Yoga practice and inspire them to say no to drugs and other intoxicants. Dr Shreyansh Jain, Chairman proposed to create a data bank of already qualified in Yoga candidates from different universities of Jammu like Jammu University and Central University of Jammu and others. A new action committee Whatsapp group was formed to achieve the objectives.

Tamil Nadu SCC organizes fifth Meeting
The fifth meeting of Tamil Nadu State Chapter Committee was held online on February 14, 2021 at 11.00 am. The meeting was attended by Dr.A.M.Moorthy, Chairman, Smt Rajeswari Prabhakaran, Vice-Chairman, Prof.Dr.R.Elangovan, Secretary, Dr.R.Vetrivendan, Joint Secretary, Shri Anoop MP, Joint Secretary, Smt. Thangalakshmi, Joint Secretary, Shree Varma, Joint Secretary, Shri A.Annapoorani, Treasurer, Shri Kaustubh Desikachar, Member, Shri V.Srinivasan, Member, Shri Jeyakumar, Member, Smt, Fharzana Siraj, Member and Shri Ravi Tumuluri, Joint Secretary, IYA.

Prof.Dr.R.Elangovan commenced the meeting by presenting the action taken report of the previous meet­ing and briefed the members about the programs carried out between the period of 4th and 5th State Chapter Committee Meeting.

Smt. Kamlesh Barwal ji, Secretary General, IYA also marked her presence and delivered a special address. She also requested all the member to further membership drive. The State Chapter resolved to celebrate Women’s day programs on March 8, 2021 and decided to organize more such activities in future.

During the meeting it was also resolved to promote a separate Tamil issue of Yogavani and the work was en­trusted to Smt.Thangalakshmi. Smt.Veronique Nicolai joined the SCC as the new members. Smt.Rajeswari Prabhakaran concluded the meeting with the vote of thanks.

UPSCC meets to discuss the way ahead
The UP State Chapter Committee of IYA met on February 14, 2021 at B-1055, B-block, Indira Nagar, Luc­know. The meeting was scheduled was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Amarjeet Yadav, Chairperson, UPSCC.

The meeting was convened to discuss the promotion of IYA activities. The points discussed in the meeting included National seminar to be organized in Lucknow on November 30, 2021 and December 1, 2021 by Lucknow University and IYA UP Chapter. It was also decided to hold mandal-wise meetings in the state as UP has 18 mandals for expansion of the association. It was further decided to organize two days free yoga workshop every month. The meeting was attended by Shri Peeyush Kant Mishra and others.

WBSCC meets on Zoom
West Bengal State Chapter Committee of IYA meets on February 27, 2021 on Zoom. Majorly the points dis­cussed included steps to be taken to improve membership drive. It was also decided to make efforts to add more Associate Centers to IYA.

The committee also mapped out a plan to organize one seminar or workshop in the Associate Centre. Pro­motion of IYA course and YCB course in the state was also discussed. It was further decided that the next physical meeting of the state chapter would be held on March 10, 2021.

Assam SCC discusses monthly activities
The Assam State Chapter Committee of IYA met on February 13, 2021. The meeting Dr Bali Narayan Phu­kan, Vice Chairperson, Dr Ujwal Maske, Joint Secretary and others marking their presence.

The meeting discussed ways to increase members and how to create a Facebook page and start organizing LIVE sessions. The State Chapter also decided to conduct a tree plantation drive in Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Guwahati, Assam in March 2021 as part of the monthly activity.

MPSCC meets virtually

The Madhya Pradesh State Chapter Committee of IYA met online on February 14, 2021. The meeting saw the presence of Dr Pushpanjali Sharma, Chairperson, Dr R.H Lata, Vice Chairperson, Shri Gajendra Singh Gautam, Secretary, Karan Singh Pawar, Joint Secretary, Rajender Arya, Joint Secretary, Smt. Manisha Dha­dore, Joint Secretary (Research), Shri Sandeep Dixit, Joint Secretary and Dr. Ajay Dubey, Member.

Discussions were held to promote the activities of IYA. Programs should be conducted by the members of the chapter to promote Yoga.

Goa Chapter to conduct Quiz Competition
The Goa State Chapter Committee met on February 28, 2021. The meeting was attended by Shri. Kamlesh Bandekar, Chairman, Shri Viswas Korgaonkar, Vice. Chairman, Shri Dattaprasad Bhonsle, Secretary, Shri Nasir Tehesildar, Joint Treasurer and Shri Girish Parukekar, Joint Secretary (Social Media).

The committee discussed ways to speed up the membership drive. It was further decided in the meeting that Quiz competition on Yoga for all National and International participants will be conducted. Also, one hour online weekly program on ‘Benefits of Yoga’ will be held.

Puducherry Committee meets Online

The Puducherry UT Chapter Committee organized an online meeting on February 25, 2021. Shri Sam­pathananda Mishra, Secretary presented the welcome note. The meeting saw the presence of almost all the committee members including Dr Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani, Vice Chairperson, Dr Madanmohan, Vice Chairperson and Shri Ravi Tumuluri, Joint Secretary, IYA.

Dr. Ananda congratulated everyone for the active participation in IYA activities with special mention for the new initiatives like Online Gurukulam Series, National Level progress in Social Media activities and others.

The meeting saw discussion about organizing smaller events leading to International Yoga Day celebrations in a bigger way from April to June 2021. It was decided that the Committee would actively support the 40th year celebrations of Art of Living. Soon, more committee members will take up Social Media Role to sup­port the SM Coordinator role to keep IYA Puducherry social media handles and activities. The next meeting is scheduled for March 2021 to discuss the actions taken.

Zonal Meet of UPSCC held
A zonal meet of UPSCC was held on February 28, 2021 at 11am under the aegis of Patanjali Yoga Bharat Swabhiman at the Sindhi Dharamshala in Gorakhnath Sindhi Colony. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Amarjeet Yadav. It was conducted by Shri Amar Singh Bhaduria, Secretary, UPSCC. The zonal meet started by lighting a lamp with Vedic chants.

Addressing the meeting, Dr. Amarjeet Yadav said that only Yoga can offer us guidance in the kind of artifi­cial life that we all are leading. He further elaborated the objectives of IYA and that the association aims to bring together all the yoga paramparas and work for the promotion of yoga.

Speaking on similar lines Shri Amar Singh Bhaduria, Secretary said, “Yoga has many dimensions, which at times create confusion. IYA aims to bring everyone together and curb that confusion.” “To strengthen IYA we all have to come together and create a divine group of yogis,” added Smt. Vandana Baranwal, Joint Secretary (Research), UPSCC.

Smt. Shalini Mehrotra, Member, UPSCC who was also present said, “Medicines for physical diseases are available, but for deformities of the mind is possible only yoga.” On this occasion Shri Hari Narayan Dhar Dubey, Shri Anil Chawla, Shri Rajesh Srivastava, Shri Yogendra Prasad, Shri Jitendra Shukla, Shri Ashish Pandey, Shri Harsh Sahni, Smt.Madhu Chawla, Smt.Tara Devi, Smt.Suman Maurya, Smt.Vandana Upadhy­aya, Smt.Lata Yadav, Smt.Neelam Singh, Smt.Shweta Singh, Shri Prashant Sharma and others were present. Smt.Mamta Shrivastava, District Incharge, Mahila Patanjali Yoga proposed a vote of thanks.
