State Chapter Committee Meetings – April 2021 

National State Chapters Meet held on April 18

The National State Chapters/Union Territory’ Meet was held virtually through Sampark on April 18, 2021 from 10 am to 12.45 pm. It saw the auspicious presence of Executive Council members of IYA including Guruji Dr HR Nagendra, President, Shri Subodh Tiwari, Vice President, Dr Jaideep Arya, Joint Secretary, Shri Ravi Tumuluri, Joint Secretary, Shri PC Kapoor, Treasurer, Dr Ananda Balayogi Bhavnani, Director, Standing Publicity, Publication and Public Relations Committee, Shri Ramkumar Rathi, Director, Standing Finance Committee and Smt. Sunanda Rathi.

All Secretaries of SCC along with more than 130 members and IYA Secretariat office team attended the meeting.

Dr Jaideep Arya opened the meeting with the prayer and presented the welcome note. Guruji Dr HR Nagendra gave the presidential talk about IYA and its activities. Thereafter, Secretaries of SCCs and UTCCs gave their introductions of three minutes each. Shri Ravi Tumuluri presented the current activities being undertaken to promote and propagate yoga at IYA and briefly explained the upcoming Foundation Course in Yoga conducted in partnership with BBAU, Lucknow with Ministry of AYUSH.



From South Zone State Chapter Committees Shri Rajgopalan, Kerala SCC, Dr R Elangovan, TN SCC pre­sented their reports. From the West Zone, Dr Satish Patak, Maharastra SCC, Shri Kamlesh Udasi, Gujarat SCC, Dr. Swatantra Kumar Sharma, Rajasthan SCC and Shri Dattaprasad Bhonsle, Goa SCC shared the developments.

Reports from the North Zone State Chapter Committees were presented by Shri Ish Arya ji, Haryana SCC, Smt Madhu Pandit, Chandigarh SCC, Shri Bansilal, J&K UTCC, Dr SB Arora, Delhi UTCC, Shri Amar Singh Bhadau­ria, UP SCC and Swami Dayadhipanan­da, Uttarakhand SCC. From the East Zone Shri Sisir Biswas, WB SCC, Shri Ajaya Sahoo, Odisha SCC, Mausami Borpuzary Sharma, Assam SCC, Shri N.Ibohal Singh, Manipur SCC and Shri Pankaj Majumder, Tripura SCC gave the presentations.

After the presenta­tions Shri PC Ka­poor, in his address explained the future plans of IYA and proposed budget what is expected from each state chapter. He also presented the proposed budget plan for the state chapters. Shri Ravi Tumuluri then presented a brief detail about the cur­rent scenario of the Scheme under YCB, Ministry of AYUSH.

Talking about the ‘Roadmap – The way forwards’, Shri Subodh Tiwari gave a precise guideline on how the state chapters should work as a team. The secretaries from various state chapters discussed their concerns with the EC members. The meeting ended with a closing prayer.

Gujarat SCC meets virtually

The Gujarat State Chapter Committee met online on April 5, 2021. The meeting was attended by Shri Ravi Tumuluri, Joint Secretary, IYA and the members of state chapter namely Acharya Birju Maharaj, Smt Meetal Koticha, Shri Kamlesh Patel, Smt Mauli Bavisker, Shri Rajeev Mishra, Smt Bhakti Shah, Shri Jayraj Vala, Shri Girjesh Sharma, Smt Heenal Thakkar, Smt Meeta Shah, Shri Priyank Panchal and Shri Zeel Patel.
The meeting commenced with Smt Meetal Koticha being briefed about the membership drive and how to speed up the procedure. It was also decided that the State Executive Committee would find and create a directory of eminent Yogacharyas in the region.

Acharya Birju Maharaj requested Shri Ravi Tumuluri to organise National level meet for the state chapters. Smt Meetal requested for a crisp write-up or presentation that highlights the benefits of sorts of memberships and can be shared with those want to become members so that we can have conviction while proposing them to become a part of IYA family.

Towards the end, Shri Ravi Tumuluri announced the Foundation Course in Yoga and requested the state members to take up this drive to maximize the spread of Yoga to as many people as possible.

Goa Chapter discusses the way forward

The Goa Chapter Committee of IYA met on February 18, 2021. It was attended by Shri. Kamlesh Bandekar, Chairman, Shri Viswas Korgaonkar, Vice. Chairman, Shri Dattaprasad Bhonsle, Secretary, Shri Nasir Tehe­sildar, Joint Treasurer and Shri Girish Parukekar, Joint Secretary.

After discussions it was resolved to open the bank account as soon as possible. The address for the state chapter was zeroed in. Other administrative requirements were talked about.

Plans were made for organising the Quiz competition on Yoga for all National and International participants. It was also decided to organise a 1 hour online weekly program on the ‘Benefits of Yoga’ to be taken up by each member organisations.

Thereafter, the names of the office bearers for better functioning of the Goa State Chapter Committee was recommended namely Shri Kamlesh Ulhas Bandekar, Chairperson, Dr Pranita Joshi Deshmukh, Vice Chair­person, Shri Viswas Korgaonkar, Vice Chairperson, Shri Dattaprasad Bhonsle, Secretary, Shri Sanjeev Sawardekar R.N, Joint Secretary, Shri Nasir Tehesildar, Joint Treasurer, Shri Girish Parulekar, Joint Secre­tary (Social Media), Shri Daryl Fernandes, Joint Secretary (Event), Dr. Divya Keshavamurthy, Treasurer, Shri Deepak D’ Souza, Member, Shri Rajeswer Naidu, Member, Shri Shashi Sardesai, Member, Shri Shiven­dra Kumar, Member, Smt. Nishita Tambe, Member, Shri Sanjiv Naik, Member and Shri Sandesh Barazan­kar, Member.

Rajasthan SCC monthly meeting held

The Rajasthan State Chapter Committee of IYA was held on April 25, 2021 from 5 pm to 7 pm on Google Meet. As many as 12 people attended the meeting including the Chairperson and the secretary.

The state chapter organised a webinar April 11, 2021 with VYASA, Bengaluru on Yoga for stress/psychoso­matic disorders. The main speaker for the webinar was Dr Nagarathna didi, Medical Director, Arogyadhama, SVYASA, Bengaluru.

Everybody was informed that the Rajasthan State Chapter will organise Online Yoga sessions from April 24-May 3, 2021 in association with VYASA, Bengaluru and Aarogya Bharti, Rajasthan on Yoga Session for Immunity Development and Positive Health. The sessions will be held from 7:30-8:30 am and in the evening from 6-7 pm on Webex. It will be Live on YouTube.

The state chapter organised a webinar with VYASA, Bengaluru on Yoga for stress/psychosomatic disorders. The main speaker for the webinar was Dr Nagarathna didi, Medical Director, Arogyadhama, SVYASA, Bengaluru.

Thereafter, members were informed that all the organisations who had earlier supported IYA Rajasthan ac­tivities will organise activities on the occasion of International Day of Yoga on June 21 in collaboration with the Rajasthan chapter.

Then suggestion by Vice Chairperson, Shri Mahesh Sharma was put forward to organise an event on May 9, 2021 with Dr Mohit Sharma, Heart Specialist for COVID patients. Shri Himanshu Paliwal, Joint Secretary (Social Media) also suggested to organise a program with Shri Pratap Sarangi, Central Minister.

Discussions were also held about the programs to be organised by Rajasthan SCC on International Day of Yoga. The theme for the day has been decided as ‘Sarve Santu Niramaya’. Towards the end of the monthly meet, the Chairperson requested all the members to consider it their responsibility to help people in these difficult times.
