Rajasthan SCC organises webinar on Yoga for Psychosomatic Disorders

Rajasthan state chapter of organised a webinar on Yoga for stress born/ psychosomatic disorders. The Guest Speaker for the webinar was Dr R Naga­rathna, Director and Chief Yoga Therapy Con­sultant, Arogyadhama, Swami Vivekanada Yoga Anusandhan Samsthan (SVYASA), Bengaluru.

The webinar commenced with a welcome note by Dr Purnandu Sharma, Joint Secretary (Co-Research). Shri Swatantra Sharma gave the introductory note. Thereafter, Shri Ravi Tumuluri who was also pres­ent on the occasion, in his address explained about the agenda of IYA which is to unite all leading yoga institutions throughout India. He also informed all that IYA has collaborated with Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Central University, Lucknow which will now be offering Foundation Course in Yoga and the endeavour is being supported by Ministry of AYUSH.

Dr R Nagarathna in her address explained in detail about immunity and stress. She said, “In last 50 years human immunity has come down because of stress and virus has updated themselves against medicines. Stress has become biggest cause to reduce immunity.
“Sleep, diet, exercise and smoking / alcohol con­sumption can be reasons of stress. All 4 are con­nected with mind. A healthy and balanced mind can maintain harmony amongst sleep, diet and exercise. In stress our emotions get disturbed in response towards unlike situation. This leads to disturbance in our perception of events or people and we are unable to perceive situation and peo­ple as they are and it hamper our discrimination power that results in untimely sleep, untimely and junk food, lack of exercise and smoke / alcohol.”

Shri Vinod Parik, Chairperson, Rajasthan SCC con­cluded the webinar with the thanks note to Dr R Nagarathna.

TN SCC celebrates World Cancer Day

Tamil Nadu State Chapter of IYA organised a webinar on ‘Awareness on Cancer’ on the occasion of World Cancer Day on February 4, 2021. The event was conducted online by Faculty of Yoga Sciences and Therapy, Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research (deemed to be university), Chennai in association with Indian Yoga Association, TN SCC.

Key note address by given by Smt Rajeswari Prabhakaran, Vice Chairperson, TN SCC. Dr Anita Harry, Professor of Surgery, MAHER, Dr R Vetrivendan Rathinavelu, Siddha Medical Officer, Ministry of AY­USH, Govt of Tamil Nadu and Joint Secretary, TNSCC. The webinar was presided over by Dr R Elangovan, Secretary, TNSCC.

In her address Smt Rajeswari Prabhakaran insisted that yoga could treat cancer patients through pranayama practices particularly by doing Kapalabhati and Nadi shodana pranayama. She also praised Swami Ram­devji who gives much importance to help the cancer patients through his methods.

Dr Anita Harry while speaking explained the nature, cause, symptoms, complications and remedies of can­cer scientifically and Dr R Vetrivendan Rathinavelu explained the cause, nature and cure of cancer through Siddha medicine along with yoga in detail while Dr R Elangovan emphasized on the importance of yoga to overcome cancer.

As many as 335 people participated in the webinar including all state committee members of IYA and TN SCC.

National Symposium on ‘Women Empowerment and Yoga’ by TN SCC

The Tamil Nadu State chapter of Indian Yoga Association organised an online national symposium on ‘Women Empowerment and Yoga’ on the eve of International Women’s Day on March 3, 2021. The event was organised by Faculty of Yoga Sciences and Therapy, Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research (MAHER), Chennai in association with IYA TNSCC and Yogalaya Health Care Institute, Chennai.

The key note address was given by Shri Ravi Tumuluri, Joint Secretary, IYA and Regional Co-ordinator Eastern and Southern Region. Smt Rajeswari Prabhakaran, Vice Chairperson, TN SCC, Professor A An­napoorani, Treasurer, TN SCC, Smt. R.Thangalakshmi, Joint Secretary, TN SCC, Smt Fhazana Siraj, Member, TN SCC, Smt Subhavahini Seetharaman, World Community Service Center. The symposium was presided over by Prof Dr AM Moorthy, Chairperson, TNSCC.

Shri Ravi Tumuluri in his address emphasized on girls counselling, girl child safety, female foeticide, pre­vention of malnutrition, breast feeding, sports activities. Smt Rajeswari Prabhakaran also explained the importance of women from tantric period to modern time. Yogic practices for women were also stressed.
Prof Dr AM Moorthy while speaking emphasized on the importance of women’s equity, leadership, self defense and mental awareness. As many as 245 participated in the symposium including all state committee members of IYA and TN SCC.

Tamil Nadu SCC celebrates Rathasapthami Day

The Tamil Nadu State Chapter Committee organised a National Workshop ‘108 Surya Namaskar’ to cel­ebrate Rathasapthami Day. The event was organised online by Faculty of Yoga Sciences and Therapy, MAHER, Chennai on February 1, 2021 in association with Tamil Nadu State Chapter Committee, IYA and Yogalaya Health Care Institute, Chennai.



The key note address was given by Shri Ravi Tumuluri, Joint Secretary, IYA and Regional Co-ordinator Eastern and Southern Region. Dr. Kambhampati Subramanyam, Chairperson, IYA Andhra Pradesh State Chapter marked his presence as the Chief Guest. Prof Dr A M Moorthy, Chairman, Tamil Nadu State Chap­ter presided over the event.

The keynote speaker explained the importance of Rathasapthami day and its celebrations. He explained in detail about the auspicious day which is celebrated and dedicated to Sun. The Chief Guest for the day explained in detail by Sun God Surya and the methods, and benefits of Surya Namaskar.

Prof Dr A M Moorthy appreciated the students who per­formed 108 Surya Namaskars and regularly practice it. As many as 465 participated in the event.
