A ten-day Free Summer Yoga Camp for Children was successfully conducted from 20 to 30 May 2026 at the Ashok Nagar Sub Centre, Anjaneyar Temple, Chennai, for children in the age group of 5–16 years. The programme was organized by Gnanasiriyar N. Elumalai and Rangarajapuram SKY Trust in collaboration with the Indian Yoga Association – Tamil Nadu State Chapter Committee (IYA-TNSCC) as part of the lead-up activities for the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026.
The closing ceremony was graced by Prof. S. Murugan, President, World Community Service Centre (WCSC), Chennai Zone, as the Chief Guest. Appreciating the organizers for their efforts, he commended the initiative for introducing children to Yoga at an early age and encouraging healthy lifestyle habits. He was particularly impressed by the students’ Yoga demonstrations presented during the programme.
Prof. Murugan distributed participation certificates to all students and prizes to outstanding performers. In his address, he highlighted the importance of Yoga for students, especially those in Classes IX and X, noting that regular practice can significantly improve concentration, academic performance, and overall well-being.
The event was also attended by P. C. Karthigeyan, Secretary, WCSC Chennai Zone, and S. Ethiraja, Treasurer, WCSC Chennai Zone. Felicitations were offered by Gnanasiriyar G. Jayaraman, President of Rangarajapuram SKY Trust, while Dr. S. Kalaichelvi, Vice President of the Trust, delivered the vote of thanks.
The successful completion of the camp reflected the growing interest among children and parents in Yoga as a means of fostering physical fitness, mental focus, discipline, and holistic development.
