Yoga tourism is emerging as a powerful trend worldwide, and Tanzania is poised to become a leading destination for wellness travel. Known for its safaris and cultural richness, Tanzania is now exploring new frontiers with the help of Swasti Yoga Center, Associate Centre of the Indian Yoga Association.
In collaboration with Volcano College, Tanzania’s premier hospitality institute, Swasti Yoga conducted a unique workshop introducing students to yoga as a career path. Over 200 students learned how combining yoga certifications with traditional tourism skills can open doors to global opportunities—like guiding wellness retreats or offering yoga in eco-tourism settings.
Beyond classrooms, the Swasti team led yoga sessions at orphanages and with Maasai communities in the Serengeti, showing how yoga can be a tool for healing, empowerment, and cultural connection. They also raised awareness through popular radio shows, inviting Tanzanians to celebrate International Day of Yoga 2025.
This Indo-African initiative showcases yoga tourism not only as a wellness movement but as a practical solution for youth employment, sustainable tourism, and cultural unity—redefining Africa’s tourism story with the spirit of “One Earth, One Health.”
