Diabetes Management with Meditation

by Shri K. C. Jain,
Treasurer, IYA and Managing Trustee, Adhyatm Sadhna Kendra, Delhi

According to a report by the International Diabetes Foundation, as of 2020 India has 7.7 crore people suffering from Diabetes. While the numbers themselves are alarming, the high economic costs are also a burden on the individual patient and their families. According to another estimate, an average Indian household spends an average of Rs 10,000 per month on the treatment and medication of a single family member suffering from Diabetes.

For the purpose of explanation, let us first try to understand what Diabetes is. Very simply, Diabetes is a metabolic disease which causes high levels of blood sugar. In a person suffering from Diabetes, the body is either unable to produce adequate levels of the insulin hormone or unable to utilize it to regulate the blood sugar levels. Types of diabetes include Type 1 (when the body cannot produce enough insulin), Type 2 (when the body develops resistance to insulin), Prediabetes (when the person has high blood sugar levels but is not diagnosed with Diabetes) and gestational Diabetes (occurring in pregnant women).

Persons who are obese, are not physically active, have a close family member suffering from Diabetes, or have high levels of blood pressure or cholesterol are at the highest risk from Diabetes. There are also associate complications with the disease, which in some cases can be life-threatening as well, and include heart disease, vision loss, foot damage, skin conditions, dementia, and depression.

Increasingly, medical experts are urging for measures for the prevention and management of diabetes. And with the high costs of drugs in the market, there is an inclination to turn towards lifestyle changes and drugless solutions to cure diabetes. It is here that Preksha Meditation and its technique can serve a significant benefit.

Preksha Meditation and its technique offer potential for drugless treatment for Diabetes management. Taking a holistic approach to the disease, Preksha Meditation provides techniques which look to treat and manage the symptoms and conditions of Diabetes from within.

Diabetes patients attending Preksha Meditation Health Camps at Adhyatm Sadhna Kendra have reported marked differences in their blood sugar and blood pressure levels, reduced weight, and also improved mental and emotional health, all of which have contributed to more effective management of their Diabetes. With a combination of yogic asanas; Preksha Meditation techniques such as Kayotsarga, Shvaas Preksha, Antaryatra, among others; diet and lifestyle changes; naturopathy; Pranayama and acupressure, among other methods, patients are taught to bring about changes in their lifestyle and follow the protocol for diabetes management in their everyday life.

Preksha Meditation serves to purify the physical body, our mental, emotional, and spiritual health, and helps us connect to our consciousness while improving our behaviour and attitudes. Although Preksha Dhyaan is rooted in ancient philosophy, it is authentically based on scientific principles which makes it an effective method for bringing about positive transformation in the individual by looking within for a cure. In Preksha Meditation, the techniques target transformation at the neuro-endocrine level, which in turn regulate the hormones. The transformation at the hormonal level is then manifested at the physical level, bringing about improved overall health. And since Diabetes is a metabolic disease, Preksha Meditation and its techniques can be instrumental in managing it by targeting treatment at a hormonal level.

However, it must be stated that only those patients who diligently follow the practices in their daily routine and undertake the prescribed changes can avail the full benefits of Preksha Meditation for Diabetes management.

Visit Adhyatm Sadhna Kendra in Chhatarpur, New Delhi, to attend and learn how Preksha Meditation can help manage and cure diabetes. The Kendra routinely organizes Preksha Meditation health camps for drugless solution to a number of diseases. Visit the Kendra’s website to find out upcoming camp dates and register.
