Odana(Rice Pudding)

Odana is a highly nutritive and aids in digestion. Nutmeg helps to diarrhea (in low dose), detoxify the body and stimulate the brain.

It has antioxidant, antimicrobial and antifungal properties. Cardamom treats respiratory and gastrointestinal tract infections along with kidney and urinary disorders. Odana is very beneficial for bone disorders, heart diseases and brain diseases.

Ingredients
Rice 30 grms
Milk 200 ml
Raisins 1 tsp
Cardamom 2 no
Honey 1 tsp
Nutmeg Powder 1 tsp

Method
Rinse rice in cold water. In a pan, add barley and 1 cup of water. Cover it with a lid.
Bring the mix to a boil.
Then drain the rice and add it to the pan.
Add milk, honey, cardomom and raisins.
Bring the mix to a simmer, cover and cook until the rice is tender and the milk has thickened, stirring occasionally.
Garnish the nutmeg powder.

Healthy Cooking Tips
Can use almond milk or coconut milk as an alternative.
Can use barley as an alternative to rice.
Skim the cream and then use the milk for drinking.
Cow’s milk also contain a high amount of saturated fats and cholesterol, which can increase the risk of heart diseases. You can replace cow’s milk with goat milk or soya milk.
