On July 21, 2024, Shiv Darshan Yoga Vidyalaya, Bihar School of Yoga, Member Institute of IYA in Chennai celebrated Guru Poornima and held its Valedictory function, marking a significant milestone for the institution. Established on July 14, 1992, during Guru Poornima, Shiv Darshan Yoga Vidyalaya operates as a 100% charitable trust, guided by senior Swamijis from the Bihar School of Yoga.
The ashram’s mission is to advance yoga practice and holistic well-being. Students receive in-depth education in yoga, including asanas, pranayama, meditation, and yogic philosophy, under the guidance of experienced teachers.
The day’s events featured a special program called “Spiritual Sadhana Day,” led by Swami Gambhirananda Saraswati, Acharya of the Vidyalaya and a direct disciple of Swami Satyananda Saraswati. This free program, running from 10 am to 4 pm, was followed by the Valedictory function for Teacher Training Course students specializing in Kids Yoga and Prenatal/Postnatal Yoga.
Chief guests included Prof. Dr. R. Elangovan, Member of the Executive Council of the Indian Yoga Association and Secretary of IYA Tamilnadu, and Mr. Ramanlal, Additional Advocate General, Government of Tamilnadu. They presented certificates to the students and shared inspiring speeches. The event was enriched with Kirtans, hawan (fire ritual), Paduka puja, and a speech by Swami Gambhirananda Saraswati.
Shiv Darshan Yoga Vidyalaya remains committed to promoting yoga, mindfulness, and well-being. Its Teacher Training programs aim to produce skilled trainers and therapists who integrate traditional yogic practices with modern scientific approaches.
