Parmarth Niketan marks Pujya Swamiji’s 75th Birth Anniversary

Parmarth Niketan, a Member Institute of the Indian Yoga Association (IYA), celebrated the Birth Anniversary of its President and Spiritual Leader, HH Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji Maharaj, Governing Council Member, IYA, on the sacred banks of Maa Ganga in Rishikesh.
As Pujya Swamiji entered his 75th year, the gathering also reflected on the theme of the International Day of Yoga 2026, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” Saints, spiritual leaders, devotees, and seekers shared their thoughts on how yoga, selfless service, spiritual practice, and a life of purpose contribute to healthy and fulfilling ageing.

Ganga Nandini, Yogacharya at Parmarth Niketan and Secretary of the IYA Uttarakhand Chapter, highlighted the significance of the theme and emphasized that the foundations of healthy ageing are built through conscious living, service, and care for society and the environment.
During the celebration, several spiritual leaders shared their reflections. Pujya Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji spoke about finding purpose and fulfilment through a life of service and spiritual practice. Pujya Yogrishi Swami Ramdev Ji Maharaj praised Pujya Swamiji’s unwavering energy and dedication to yoga, service, nature, and culture. Pujya Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avdheshanand Giri Ji Maharaj emphasized the importance of leaving a positive legacy through service and environmental stewardship.

Other saints highlighted Pujya Swamiji’s lifelong commitment to environmental protection, cleanliness, humanitarian service, and the preservation of India’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
A major highlight of the celebration was the collective pledge to plant 75,000 trees to mark Pujya Swamiji’s 75th year, reflecting his longstanding dedication to environmental conservation and sustainable living.

Expressing gratitude to his Guru, the saints, and Maa Ganga, Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji Maharaj called upon everyone to work together for a cleaner, greener, healthier, and more compassionate world. He also reiterated his commitment to environmental protection, healthcare, education, humanitarian service, and the rejuvenation of India’s rivers.

The celebration served as a meaningful reminder that healthy ageing is not only about physical wellbeing, but also about living with purpose, service, compassion, gratitude, and spiritual awareness. Through his life and work, Pujya Swamiji continues to inspire people across generations to lead lives dedicated to the welfare of all.
